Evaluation Question 3

What have you learned from audience feedback?

The target audience I identified were young people in the age range of 16-22. I decided to upon this as, being a member of that age group, I felt that I could appropriately cater to that age group and easily access them for research and feedback. Interacting with my target audience influenced the article content of my magazine (based upon what they're interested in and where they spent their free time) and also influenced the language choices, as I wrote my articles with an informal, colloquial tone in order to appeal to my readers. Here's a collection of what I've learned from and about them:

Target Audience Research and Feedback

From the information collected in the audience profile and the survey I conducted, I came to the conclusion that these audience members would be interested in my product because its price is in their range, it incorporates social media and it has articles about subjects that they are interested in (e.g: events in the North East, musicians etc.). This links into the Uses and Gratification audience theory regarding reasons consumers seek out media products, as here my target audience are seeking out my product as a way to gain information and serve as an entertaining distraction.

Here's some feedback I received:

From this feedback I learned that audiences are also attracted to magazines due to their design and layout , and that these features are one of the primary components that they focus on. In accordance with this I adapted my products so their design would be more appealing and thus more likely to stand out, such as changing the colour scheme to appeal to a wider audience and changing fonts and adding shadows to text so they would become more attention-grabbing.
